What changed in each recent version of Frozen Bubble: Battle Royale, newest first. Older releases are in the full changelog, and downloads are on the releases page.
v2.4.158
New online rooms start with a bot. When you create a game room, a bot joins right away so you have someone to play even on a quiet server. Set Bots to 0 to remove it, or add more.
Bots join faster. Fixed a server delay that could keep a bot from appearing in a room for up to 30 seconds.
New name on the website. The site now calls the game Frozen Bubble: Battle Royale, the same name as on Google Play.
v2.4.157
Fewer, better-timed ads (Android). Entering the online lobby no longer shows an ad. Ads now appear only when you leave an online game or choose Continue after losing a 1-player game, and never more than one every three minutes. Buying ad removal still turns them all off. The privacy policy says so.
v2.4.156
Google AdMob added to the Android ads (Android). Google AdMob is now one of the ad networks the Android version can show ads from, alongside the existing ones. Nothing changes in how often ads appear, and buying ad removal still turns them all off. The privacy policy lists AdMob among the ad networks.
v2.4.155
Chain reactions explained correctly. The multiplayer rules help used to say that bubbles knocked loose by a pop fly to an opponent's board. They don't: with chain reactions on, a falling bubble flies back into a gap on your own board where it completes a group of its colour and pops it, which can set off another chain. The help now says so.
v2.4.154
See a high score's full details. On the High Scores screen, tap a score (or press Space / a gamepad's Y and use the arrows) to highlight it and see its whole record under the list: full name, level, time, shots, input, country and, on the online boards, the date it was set. After a run, the name panel shows the score you're naming. The website's high scores page does the same when you click or tap a row.
v2.4.153
Ad after Continue (Android). In a 1-player game, choosing Continue after losing now shows an ad before you retry the level.
Country flags for browser players. Players on the web version now get their country shown in the online high scores and in Discord alerts, like players on other platforms. It is worked out on the server from the connection and the address is never shown.
Report / Block button fits. The REPORT / BLOCK button above the chat is wider so its text no longer overflows.
v2.4.152
Report and block from the chat. Online, press B in the lobby or a room, tap REPORT / BLOCK above the chat, or tap someone's chat line to open a page listing the players with Report and Block buttons. Block hides a player's chat on your device; Report tells the server's operator. The typed /report and /block commands still work.
v2.4.151
More in the in-game menu. The menu button at the top left now has Restart level and Start over in a classic 1-player game (each asks first), Sound and Music switches, and Controls, where you can change your keys or gamepad buttons without leaving the game. Online, Quit is now Leave and asks first, since the round counts as a loss.
Continuing ends a run's high scores. In a 1-player game, once you Continue after losing (or Restart level from the menu), the rest of that run no longer counts for the high score tables. What you'd already scored still counts, and Start over begins a run that counts again.
Gamepads work in the in-game menu. The D-pad, A and B/Start now move around it, pick and back out.
v2.4.150
Account PIN. Instead of typing your 16-character account code on another device, open Account code and choose Set PIN to pick a 4-to-8-digit PIN under your name. On the other device, choose Link with PIN and enter the same name and PIN: it then plays as your account on the online high scores, and its own scores are added to yours.
One entry per name on the online high scores. If you ended up with several accounts under the same name, the board now shows only your best one.
v2.4.149
Back button on every menu screen. A Back button now sits at the top left of every screen past the title menu, from the 1-player menu and settings to the server lists, lobby, game room and High Scores. Tapping it does the same as ESC.
In-game menu. A menu button at the top left of every game opens RESUME and QUIT, so a touch screen always has a way out. Games on your own device pause while it is open; online games keep going. ESC still quits straight away.
Bots join rooms again. If your name ended in a space, adding a bot to your online room failed with "invalid bot name". Names are now trimmed, and the server accepts it either way.
v2.4.148
Online high scores from the continue screen. After losing a level, the CONTINUE? card has an ONLINE HIGH SCORES button under Continue and Start over. It opens the high scores page and leaves the choice waiting for you.
Exit and Discord when a match ends. Once an online match is won, the stats screen has EXIT, back to the lobby, and DISCORD RESULTS, which opens the #net-games channel where the match is posted. D or a gamepad's Y opens it too.
v2.4.147
The new game screen for everyone. Every 1-player game now has the score card (level, score, shots and time), the level cleared, game over and pause cards, the level dropping in row by row and "N DROPPED!". The In-game theme setting is gone; the Bubbles setting (Candy or Classic) still picks the bubbles.
Controls & Settings looks the same in every menu style. The Modern style now shows the classic settings screen, like the online screens.
v2.4.146
Online screens back to their classic look. The NET GAME and LAN GAME server lists, the online lobby, the game room with its chat, and Set Teams are drawn the classic way again in every menu style, Modern included. The Modern style still dresses the title screen, the 1-player menu and Controls & Settings.
v2.4.145
New ad provider on Android. Ads now come through Appodeal instead of Google AdMob. As before, a full-screen ad can show when you enter the online lobby, and Remove Ads still turns them off for good.
Ad privacy choices. A new row in Controls & Settings on Android lets you review or change how ads use your data, where the law gives you that choice.
Android 7.0 or newer. The Android version now needs Android 7.0; Android 6.0 is no longer supported.
v2.4.144
Easier to read online on a phone. The online lobby, game room, Set Teams and server lists use bigger text and taller rows. Long lists scroll inside their card: swipe, use the arrow keys or the mouse wheel, or tap a half-shown row. Chat still shows four lines. In the game room, Bots and Bot skill moved to the end of the rules list.
Modern server lists. The NET GAME and LAN GAME lists now match the Modern menu style, with each server's ping shown as a coloured chip.
New app icon. A candy bubble in the launcher, aimed at the bubbles above.
